Government of Punjab has shifted its entire focus on the youth related policies. The buzz started with Punjab Laptop scheme up till now, the entire team of CM Shahbaz Sharif is devising various plans to somehow involve the flavor of technology in every field. Today in next few hours, it is going to introduce officially the Punjab Innovation Policy in collaboration with Google Inc. An event has been planned in this regard at Arfa Technology Park where all the stake holders are invited to witness the announcement of Punjab Innovation Policy.
On behalf of Punjab Government, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is managing all the affairs. The board is working is as front line of Shahbaz Sharif who introduced it in his earlier tenure back in 1998 when as head of the province, Shahbaz Sharif made an agreement with Oracle Corporation for the spread of technological education in Punjab Province.
Today, another giant, Google Inc, is associating with Government for making the lives of people as easy as possible through the introduction of modern techniques and state of the art solutions.
According to The News, the agenda of this innovation policy is to use information technology to enable citizens to benefit from better public service, access to information and network across the province.
As we have heard, the policy would help in developing strong IT infrastructure for executing all kind of matters speedily like it happens in rest of the world.
For example, Lahore High Court is the first in judicial system to implement the IT techniques. A separate IT wing has been established for making sure that people could file and access the complaints online. Similarly a dedicated wing of Punjab Police is working on a system to bring all the police stations of Lahore online. The department is also planning to introduce electronic FIR registration system that will help control bribery and unnecessary delays in the process of registering a case and investigation.
