MegaGate opens its first application store “SWAPP”
Up till a year ago, Chinese phones were considered to be a very low end game but with the inception of companies such as MegaGate and QMobile in Pakistan the overall image has started to improve gradually. Although, it is very herculean task to enter into the grounds of Smart Phones and Android and compete the foreign brands especially when R&D and innovations are their hallmark.
MegaGate is the first Pakistani company that has worked and launched an online application store for its mobile phones. “SWAPP” which is the name of its online store currently has some 20 applications mostly related to gaming category. The online store has been developed in association with mBounce, a Hong Kong based mobile application development company.
At the moment SWAPP is available for MegaGate MAXIMUS W750, company’s premium phone. The store has 2 free applications whereas, rest of them are paid at very nominal rates within price range of Rs. 5 to Rs. 19. The payment mechanism is very simple, you just have to download the app, game in this case, from the link provided in W750, run the game and it will ask you to send a SMS to the store. The price of SMS is the charges for application. Once sent, the game is ready to run on your phone.
According to MegaGate’s representative, “We are striving to change the dynamics of local mobile phone brand landscape and continuously coming up with innovative products and services to improve consumer user experience”.
“Currently the applications are only available for W750 but soon we are going to integrate SWAPP with our future mobile phones” added the spokesman.
SWAPP is supporting the Java based applications, company says, it has plans to expand its platform with the help of local application developers which will give Pakistanis an opportunity to develop and earn in the next few months.
